In this, we will learn the concepts of Snowball and Snowball Edge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

SOA-C01 exam is updated to AWS Certified SysOps Administrator – Associate\u00a0(SOA-C02).<\/a><\/strong> <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

AWS Snowball<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n
  • Migrate bulk data from on-premises storage and\nHadoop clusters to S3 buckets. <\/li>
  • Has an HDFS client, to migrate data directly\nfrom Hadoop clusters into an S3 bucket.<\/li>
  • To migrate,
    • create\na job in the AWS Management Console<\/li><\/ul>
      • a\nSnowball appliance will be automatically shipped to you. <\/li><\/ul>
        • Then,\nconnect to local network, <\/li><\/ul>
          • Use\nthe Snowball client to select and transfer the file directories to the Snowball\ndevice. <\/li><\/ul>
            • After\ndata transfer, the Snowball\u2019s E-Ink shipping label will automatically update. <\/li><\/ul>
              • Ship\nthe device back to AWS. <\/li><\/ul>
                • Upon\nreceipt at AWS, data is transferred from Snowball to S3 bucket.<\/li><\/ul><\/li>
                • Snowball client uses AES-256-bit encryption. <\/li>
                • Encryption keys are never shipped with the\nSnowball device<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n

                  AWS Snowball Edge <\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n
                  • It is a type of Snowball device with on-board storage and compute power for select AWS capabilities<\/li>
                  • an undertake local processing and edge-computing workloads<\/li>
                  • can transfer data between local environment and AWS<\/li>
                  • devices have three options for device configurations
                    • storage optimized<\/li><\/ul>
                      • compute optimized<\/li><\/ul>
                        • with GPU<\/li><\/ul><\/li>
                        • Encryption is enforced<\/li>
                        • import or export data between local environments and Amazon S3<\/li>
                        • can cluster Snowball Edge devices <\/li>
                        • File share or Network File System (NFS) mount point, supported<\/li>
