Moreover, you can also demonstrate cell values with data bars or KPI icons, or as active web links. Further, you can also use conditional formatting to any text or data field, as long as you base the formatting on a field that has a numeric, color name or hex code, or web URL values. Remember, conditional formatting revokes any custom background or font color that can be applied to the conditionally formatted cell.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image is-style-default\"><figure class=\"aligncenter is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/docs.microsoft.com\/en-us\/power-bi\/create-reports\/media\/desktop-conditional-table-formatting\/table-formatting-0-popup-menu.png\" alt=\"Conditional formatting menu\" width=\"395\" height=\"414\"\/><figcaption>Source: Microsoft<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Steps to apply conditional formatting<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Firstly, select a\u00a0<strong>Table<\/strong>\u00a0or\u00a0<strong>Matrix<\/strong>\u00a0visualization in Power BI Desktop. <\/li><li>Secondly, in the\u00a0<strong>Fields<\/strong>\u00a0section of the\u00a0<strong>Visualizations<\/strong>\u00a0pane<\/li><li>Then, right-click or select the down-arrow next to the field in the\u00a0<strong>Values<\/strong>\u00a0well that you want to format. <\/li><li>Lastly, select\u00a0<strong>Conditional formatting<\/strong>, and then select the type of formatting to apply.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>NOTE: <\/strong>In order to remove conditional formatting from a visualization, then select\u00a0<strong>Remove conditional formatting<\/strong>\u00a0from the field&#8217;s drop-down menu. Thereafter, select the type of formatting to remove.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Steps to Format Background or Font Color<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Use the steps to Format background or font color &#8211; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Firstly, select\u00a0<strong>Conditional formatting<\/strong>\u00a0for a field, and then select either\u00a0<strong>Background color<\/strong>\u00a0or\u00a0<strong>Font color<\/strong>\u00a0from the drop-down menu.<\/li><li>In the second step, the\u00a0<strong>Background color<\/strong>\u00a0or\u00a0<strong>Font color<\/strong>\u00a0dialog box opens, with the name of the field you&#8217;re formatting in the title. <\/li><li>Then, after selecting conditional formatting options, select\u00a0<strong>OK<\/strong>.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Step to implement Color by color scale<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Firstly, in the\u00a0<strong>Format by<\/strong>\u00a0field of the\u00a0<strong>Background color<\/strong>\u00a0or\u00a0<strong>Font color<\/strong>\u00a0dialog box, select\u00a0<strong>Color scale<\/strong>. <\/li><li>Secondly, <strong>Based on field<\/strong>, select the field to base the formatting on. <\/li><li>Then, you can base the formatting on the current field, or on any field in your model that has numerical or color data.<\/li><li>Next, under\u00a0<strong>Summarization<\/strong>, specify the aggregation type you want to use for the selected field. <\/li><li>Further, under\u00a0Default formatting, select formatting to apply to blank values.<\/li><li>Now, under\u00a0<strong>Minimum<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>Maximum<\/strong>, choose whether to apply the color scheme based on the lowest and highest field values, or on custom values you enter. <\/li><li>Then, drop down and select the colors swatches you want to apply to the minimum and maximum values. <\/li><li>Lastly, select the\u00a0<strong>Diverging<\/strong>\u00a0check box to also specify a\u00a0<strong>Center<\/strong>\u00a0value and color.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"color-by-rules\"><strong>Steps to color by rules<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Firstly, in the\u00a0<strong>Format by<\/strong>\u00a0field of the\u00a0<strong>Background color<\/strong>\u00a0or\u00a0<strong>Font color<\/strong>\u00a0dialog box, select\u00a0<strong>Rules<\/strong>. <\/li><li>Then,\u00a0<strong>Based on field<\/strong>\u00a0shows the field to base the formatting on, and\u00a0<strong>Summarization<\/strong>\u00a0shows the aggregation type for the field.<\/li><li>Next, under\u00a0<strong>Rules<\/strong>, enter one or more value ranges, and set a color for each one.
