solid-state drives (SSD) or hard disk drives (HDD).<\/li>\n<li>SSD storage is the most efficient and cost-effective choice for most use cases.<\/li>\n<li>HDD storage is sometimes appropriate for very large data sets (&gt;10 TB) that are not latency-sensitive or are infrequently accessed.<\/li>\n<li>HDD use cases\n<ul>\n<li>store at least 10 TB of data.<\/li>\n<li>not to be used for user-facing or latency-sensitive application.<\/li>\n<li>workload is Batch workloads or Data archival<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a name=\"_Toc37517457\"><\/a><a name=\"_Toc37508123\"><\/a><strong>Application profiles<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Application profiles, or app profiles for instances using replication,<\/li>\n<li>app profiles control how applications connect to the instance&#8217;s clusters.<\/li>\n<li>Without replication, app profiles provide separate identifiers for each of applications<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a name=\"_Toc37517458\"><\/a><a name=\"_Toc37508124\"><\/a><strong>Clusters<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A cluster is a service in a specific location.<\/li>\n<li>Cluster belongs to a single instance<\/li>\n<li>An instance can have up to 4 clusters<\/li>\n<li>application requests are handled by one of the clusters in the instance.<\/li>\n<li>cluster is located in a single zone.<\/li>\n<li>An instance&#8217;s clusters must each be in unique zones.<\/li>\n<li>can create more cluster in any zone if Bigtable is available.<\/li>\n<li>instances with only 1 cluster do not use replication.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a name=\"_Toc37517459\"><\/a><a name=\"_Toc37508125\"><\/a><strong>Nodes<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Each cluster in an instance has 1 or more nodes<\/li>\n<li>Nodes are compute resources to manage data.<\/li>\n<li>Bigtable splits all data from tables into smaller tablets.<\/li>\n<li>Tablets are stored on disk, separate from the nodes but in the same zone as the nodes.<\/li>\n<li>A tablet is associated with a single node.<\/li>\n<li>Each node\n<ul>\n<li>Keep track of specific tablets on disk.<\/li>\n<li>Handle incoming reads and writes for its tablets.<\/li>\n<li>Perform maintenance tasks on its tablets<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a name=\"_Toc37517460\"><\/a><a name=\"_Toc37508126\"><\/a>Instance Creation Steps<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Select or create a GCP project.\n<ul>\n<li>A project name must be between 4 and 30 characters.<\/li>\n<li>A project ID is suggested which can be edited and is 6 to 30 characters, with a lowercase letter as the first character and last character cannot be a hyphen.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Make sure billing is enabled for Google Cloud project.<\/li>\n<li>Enable the Cloud Bigtable and Cloud Bigtable Admin APIs.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Labels \u2013<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>a key-value pair<\/li>\n<li>helps you organize GCP resources<\/li>\n<li>Can attach a label to each resource<\/li>\n<li>filter the resources based on their labels.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a name=\"_Toc37517461\"><\/a><a name=\"_Toc37508127\"><\/a><strong>Modifying Instance<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>By default, can provision maximum thirty Cloud Bigtable nodes\/zone in each Google Cloud project.<\/li>\n<li>For more use the node request form.<\/li>\n<li>After creating a Bigtable instance, can update following settings\n<ul>\n<li>number of nodes in each cluster<\/li>\n<li>number of clusters in the instance<\/li>\n<li>application profiles for the instance<\/li>\n<li>labels for the instance<\/li>\n<li>display name for the instance<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a name=\"_Toc37517462\"><\/a><a name=\"_Toc37508128\"><\/a>Adding and deleting clusters<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>can add clusters to an existing instance,<\/li>\n<li>a maximum of 4 clusters per instance can be present<\/li>\n<li>Clusters can be in any region if Bigtable is available<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a name=\"_Toc37517463\"><\/a><a name=\"_Toc37508129\"><\/a>Deleting a cluster<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Can delete all but 1 of the clusters is needed<\/li>\n<li>Deleting all but 1 cluster automatically disables replication.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a name=\"_Toc37517464\"><\/a><a name=\"_Toc37508130\"><\/a>Monitoring<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>monitor Bigtable instance using Cloud Console and Cloud Monitoring<\/li>\n<li>A high-level overview is given<\/li>\n<li>Key Visualizer tool gives drill down<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Two types &#8211;
